Searching for a New Friend

The teddiursa was unable to avoid the tackle attack, it leered at the two pokemon to lower their defenses and ran at the vulpix with a lick attack. It hoped to paralyze it.

The petlil manages to avoid the ember and grew bigger once more using growth and used absorb once more on the eevee. It would be bad if it hit, since the petlil's special attack was now up by two and the eevee's special defense was down by three because of the fake tears.

"Keep focusing on the Teddiursa! Get rid of it before it lowers your stats any more!"

Aloysius gave a cry, being hit by the Absorb. It was a powerful hit, but the Eevee endured. A hefty amount of his health was drained, and the Petilil hadn't even been hit yet. His eyes glared at the Petilil, using Tail Whip before bolting out of its way again, heading towards the Teddiursa with a Tackle.

Layla screeched, being hit by the Lick. She shook her fur, standing up before using a Tail Whip at the Teddiursa. She ran to the Petilil, using Ember.

Each pokemon was hit with the attacks. The cried out in unison and retreated a bit. The Teddiursa used another fake tears before running at the vulpix with scratch attack. The petllil repeated it's growth and absorb attack on the Eevee.

"Repeat! You're almost there!"

Layla forced down her cry as the claws raked at her again, this time more painful due to her being hit by the Leer. She used Tail Whip, leaping away from the Teddiursa's claws. Instead of going back to the Petilil, she immediately used Ember at the Teddiursa's face.

Aloysius smirked at the Petilil, running from its range again before using Tail Whip. He wasn't going to give that plant another chance at healing. At least, not until he got rid of the Teddiursa. With that, he ran towards the Teddiursa, taking a leap then using Tackle, aiming to hit it on the head.

The teddiursa managed to get in one more fake tears before getting hit by both attacks and being KO'd. The petlill used growth once more and used absorb on the closest target, the eevee. It knew it was done for now, but it didn't want to go down without a fight! It twirled in the air as it sent the green orbs rushing towards the eevee once more.

Aloysius prepared for the attack, unable to move away on time. To his surprise, the draining feeling never came as he watched Layla jumped in front of him. The Vulpix took the hit, giving a cry of pain as she felt her health get drained from her, falling onto the ground. It was lucky that she was resistant to Grass types, otherwise she would've fainted on the spot. Gripping to only a small portion of her health, she staggered back onto her feet and used a weak Ember at the Petilil.

Aloysius gave a roar, running towards the Petilil with a Tackle, determined to avenge his teammate.

The petlill was hit by the ember and tackle attack, it used yet another combo of absorb and growth. It's only moves were absorb and growth, it had no choice. It targeted the eevee once more, hoping to get more health out of it than the vulpix had sacrificed.

'Just... one... more!' The Eevee growled, running out of the Petilil's way to dodge. He took a leap, using Tackle with his all. Layla stayed on the ground, now unable to move due to the hefty amount of damage she had taken. The Vulpix was now burned out, refusing to move from her exhaustion.

The petlill was hit. It screeched as it flew into the arms of it's now awake teddiursa friend. "teddy...ursa.." Whew you guys are tough...we'll beat you next time! the bear said in a friendly manner. As a reward for beating them, the bear pokemon tossed the trainer an oran berry it had picked up just a moment ago. It would find more. The bear left with it's friend in it's paws and peace returned to the clearing.

Aloysius panted, tired from the battle. But even in his state, he still managed a smile at the duo. They were good sports. And they were some really worthy opponents. "Eevee! Vee, eevee ee vee! < Hah! You guys are pretty tough too. I look forward to our rematch. >" He said, before turning to the fallen Vulpix. He walked over, looking up at his trainer. "Eevee ee eevee ee! < Give her the berry. We'll train for just one last. >"

Nyx nodded, seeming to understand. "Yeah, I know. You're still willing for one last battle, huh?" She crouched down, giving the Vulpix the Oran Berry. The Vulpix ate the berry gratefully, standing back onto her feet. It didn't heal her completely, but it would do for now. She stood up, staring at the Eevee. "Vul? Vul piix pix vuul! < We still have to train? But we've fought enough already! >" She pouted.

"Eevee ee eevee ee. < C'mon, I still want to see if you can really be a part of this team. We'll just walk out back to town, maybe have one last battle, okay? Then we can go and get some rest. >" The Eevee replied, not waiting for the Vulpix's protest as he walked off. The Vulpix muttered something to herself before following. Their trainer walked behind them, keeping a close eye on her pokemon.

A purple cat like pokemon walked down the same path. She purred as she saw a trainer with an eevee, a strong looking eevee at that. "Purrrr" it spoke Well hi there mr. eevee she purred. She approached the eevee without paying attention to the trainer or the vulpix. She rubbed against the eevee and asked, "Looin?" How are you today?

Aloysius stopped, seeing a wild pokemon up ahead. Another cat pokemon? No, this one was a bit different from the Glameow he'd battle earlier. Nonetheless, he smirked and got ready to battle. To his surprise, the cat didn't challenge him, and actually greeted with a purr. "Vee, eevee ee. < Oh, well hello there, madame. >" He greeted back. This pokemon didn't seem feral.

Imagine his surprise when the cat suddenly walked up to him, rubbing against him. He blushed, thinking it was just an odd greeting that the cat pokemon's species often. He lowered his gaurd, seeing as the pokemon didn't seem to be up for a battle. "Eevee eevee vee ee. < Uh, I'm quite fine. A bit tired, but... >"

Layla watched the scene, confused. What was the Purrloin doing? No, what was Aloysius doing? He seemed a bit flustered. Was it an attack? The Vulpix decided to see for herself, walking up beside her teammate. "Vul? Vul pix piiix vul? < Aloysius? What are you doing? >"

Nyx, on the other hand, didn't seem as puzzled. They did have quite a hefty amount of pokemon back at her home, and after years of spending time with them, she already knew this was some sort of act of affection. She stifled a giggle at the scene. Aloysius could've been a genius at battling, but he was completely clueless in these situations.

The purrloin frowned at the sight of the vulpix, she paused in her rubbing a bit before continuing, "Purrrrrloin! Purr? rrrRrrr?" Madame? Oh you're quiet the gentlemen! Tired you say? Then you must rest, no? the purrloin placed itself in front of the vulpix so Aloysius couldn't see the vulpix. She wanted to let the vulpix know that she was not wanted. The purrloin spoke happily, "Loooiin Purrrrr Liiioooon Prr" I know of an oran bush close by, you could go and eat the berries and be good as new!

Aloysius didn't seem to notice how the Purrloin blocked his teammate, lighting up at the mentioning of Oran Berries. He'd never actually tried those before, having been fed mostly dry berries in his time at the Lab, and he had just missed the opportunity in order to give the berry to Layla. He smiled, finding the offer rather generous. "Eevee eee, eevee vee ee. < That sounds delightful. Thank you for your generosity. >"

Layla, on the other hand, didn't seem as happy. Her view became obscured by the Purrloin, and she didn't need to assume twice to know that the Purrloin was doing this on purpose. The wild pokemon was not allowing her to talk to her own teammate. It made the Vulpix feel a tinge of hate, but she banished it to the depths of her mind. No, no, this Purrloin must've just been trying to get to know Aloysius. Yes, that's alright. Maybe she could just ask for her to stop blocking. "Vul... Vul piix pii vul? Vul piix? <Um... I'm sorry, miss Purrloin, but could you please stop blocking my view? Please?>" She asked, as politely as she could.

Nyx was far too busy trying not to burst out laughing, already holding her gut as she got her hand to block her mouth. This was all too priceless.

The purrloin ignored the vulpix and rubbed on the Eevee she had found again. Her tail hooked around his ear playfully as she motioned for him to follow, "Purrrrr" This way please she hummed. She walked in front of the eevee and led him to a giant bush with a sign next to it, the sign read:


The pokemon sat under the large bush and nipped at a berry's stem. It fell onto a leaf she had prepared that acted like a plate, "Go ahead, try!" the bush wasn't too far from where they originally were. So she had assumed that the eevee has followed.

Aloysius' face only grew redder at the gesture. The sensation was foreign to him, but he just guessed it was part of the greeting. He stood up, following the Purrloin to the bush. The oran berry bush was pretty big, bigger than those he'd seen at the lab. Most of its berries seemed ripe for the pickery, and if it weren't for Aloysius' knowledge of manners, he would've drooled. The Eevee sat across the Purrloin. He thanked the cat pokemon before eating the berry, making sure not to make a mess.

Layla watched as the two left to a bush. They completely ignored her. Her ears flattened on her head as she watched the two, feeling very much left out. She didn't like how this Purrloin was pushing her away from her teammate. Was the wild pokemon up to something? It probably was, considering how nice it was acting. The Vulpix shook her head, finding the assumption rude.

Nyx finally stopped her impending laughter, watching as her partner walked off with the wild Purrloin. 'Oh ho ho ho ho... Looks like someone's got an admirer.' She thought, smiling. This probably would help Aloysius. He was way too brutal and needed to learn to be more polite before whatever manners he had left were overwhelmed by his love for battling. The trainer looked up to the evening sky, seeing it turn dark. Sadly, it was getting late now. They had to leave before night fell.

"Layla, go fetch Aloysius. We have to go back to town before night comes." She said, looking at the Vulpix.

Layla gave a nod, walking over to where the two other pokemon were. "Vul! Vulpiix piix vuuul! < Aloysius! Our trainer says we have to go! >" She said, approaching the two. As much as she didn't want to get any more involved with the Purrloin, she'd much prefer not to face whatever feral pokemon would appear in the dark.

"Loooin?" Whaat? "Purrrloin?" Do you really have to? "Purrrlion? mrowr Purr?" Could you stay? Or maybe could I come with you? "Loin Purrrloin!" it's scary in the dark! she said, she sounded genuinely frightened. Of course this was an act to get the eevee. She moved herself closer to the eevee her ears a bit flat and her eyes glittering with a twinge of what seemed to be fear. She was the best actress she knew of.

Aloysius seemed to buy the act, contemplating whether or not their trainer would allow it. Purrloins, if he could remember correctly, were dark types and would remain dark types in their evolutions. They didn't have a dark type yet, so it was possible their trainer would allow the cat pokemon to join them in their journey. "Eevee... Eevee ee eevee vee. Eevee vee ee? < Well... I think our trainer would let you come. However, you may need to allow yourself to be captured. Would that be alright? >" He asked, looking at the Purrloin.

Layla frowned, able to see through the Purrloin's mask. This pokemon was up to something! It must be! What kind of dark type pokemon would be afraid of the dark? That was just preposterous! She shook her head, narrowing her eyes at the Purrloin. She looked over to her teammate, determined not to let this possible traitor to join their team. "Vul! Vulpiix piix! Vul vuuul vulpix! < Luis! I don't trust this pokemon. She seems like she's up to something! Something very bad! >"

Meanwhile, Nyx was tapping her foot impatiently. She watched the three pokemon talk, having no idea why they were taking so long.

The purrloin looked hurt and offended, "Loiin? Purrrrrrrrloiiiiiin? Pur pur loin. " Me? Why would I want to do anything bad to, Luis was it? You never told be your name. she smiled and asked, "Loin purrr mrown?" Would you like to be friends too? she smiled pleasantly and convincingly. Although she was a bit annoyed that the fox was clever enough to see through her act.

Aloysius seemed annoyed at how his teammate kept making these ridiculous assumption. Clearly this pokemon wasn't up to anything bad. The Purrloin had just helped him get healed, for Arceus' sake. "Eevee, ee eevee vee. < My apologies for my teammate. She's new. My name is Aloysius, but most just call me Luis. >"

Layla had enough of this. Her teammate, even with his intellect, couldn't even see how this Purrloin was masking her every single emotion. Was it really that hard to see she was up to something? It seemed like the Vulpix had to take matters into her own paws before it would be all too late. She stepped in front of her teammate, growling at the Purrloin. "Vul vul pix! Vuul piix vulpix vulpix pix! < I don't care what you think! I'm not letting this impostor waltz into our team without a fight! You'll have to go through me first! >"

Nyx's attention was piqued when she saw her Vulpix suddenly take a fighting stance in front of her Eevee. Did the Purrloin challenge her? The trainer decided to watch and see, ready to call back her pokemon if things went too out of hand.

The purrloin hissed, "LOIN! Purr purr loin mrown meow Mrr!" FINE! If it's a fight you want it's a fight you'll get!" the purrloin hissed again and growled at the vulpix while moving for a scratch attack, she made it look like she was holding back in front of Luis so he would assume that she didn't really want to fight the Vulpix.

Layla growled, enduring the Scratch. She'd just recovered from a battle with a Teddiursa -who seemed much more intelligent- no way was she going to allow a measly wannabe cat defeat her. She used Ember, aiming for the Purrloin's face as she shot out fire from her mouth.

Aloysius stepped back from the battle, knowing that he didn't have the right to interrupt a battle between two pokemon. But nonetheless, he was truly disappointed and angered at Layla's rash actions. He looked beside him, seeing his trainer also watching the battle. He hoped she would intervene if Layla took the battle too far.

The purrloin was hit by the ember attack. She screeched as she was burned, she glared at the vulpix with hate and used another scratch attack combined with Growl. She would use assist but she had no team to pick a move from, she was on her own. She hated being alone, she had been alone since she hatched. Now that she had found someone she had genuinely taken a liking to, she wasn't going to give him up! She screeched as her claws extended as she moved for a scratch attack.

Layla ducked, dodging the Purrloin's fangs. She wagged her tail at the Fire Pokemon, before suddenly headbutting the cat in the stomach. With her limited moves, she had to learn to make use of her previous attacks as a wild pokemon.

Aloysius seemed impressed, seeing Layla use a natural move. Being raised as a lab pokemon, he didn't actually ever thought of using natural attacks outside his trained moves. He took note of the detail, deciding to do such tactic for his future battles. That is, if he was given the chance. He doubted natural moves were as powerful as trained ones.

The purrloin screeched in pain and made a final attempt to scratch at the vulpix. When she finished trying she collapsed, she didn't know if the vulpix had taken the attack or not. She had decided to play defeated, and expected to see Luis rushing over to her aid and fussing over her. She didn't expect that the trainer might throw a pokeball at her.
