Just a Guy and his Riolu

Ed walked onto Route 1. "Hm... So what do you think Riolu? Want to train a bit and maybe catch a couple pokemon?" The riolu nodded. "Well let's get moving soon then." Ed fixed his fedora and walked onto the path. "Maybe we'll find other trainers around." He knew Rave was somewhere around. He did just get his pokemon too.

The path of Route 1 was beaten and bumpy, and what was worse was a coating of ice had formed in areas after a cool rain the night before. It was a bit chilly, and the people taking the route to Cadencia were bundled up, moving slowly and carefully. Occasionally one person would slip and fall, and a Pokemon, friend, or complete stranger would come and help the other person up. It was a wonderful sight of teamwork, friendship, and cooperation!

Well, if you were into that kind of stuff it would be.

'Event' :

Ed was walking along with his riolu next to him. It seemed to having trouble staying up on the ice. Then again, it didn't have shoes for grip. After getting past a part with ice, he noticed Rave the boy from earlier battling someone. He ignored it and continued walking. The Riolu was gone but came back with an item in it's hand. Ed took the item. "I wonder where you found this..." He put it in his bag.

The Riolu was holding a long green stalk of some kind of vegetable, such as a leek. It smelled like a certain bird and seemed to have gone through lots of wear and tear. Still, it didn't seem to be moldy and with proper washing, completely edible. The vegetable stalk would probably useless unless one happened to come by the Pokemon who owned it. Still, It could make a good weapon to whack unsuspecting people with, though....

Edward kept walking. He was hoping to find a pokemon so he and Riolu could train. If he was to become a trainer, he might want to get a gym badge in the first place. Now if only I had others to travel with At the moment, that was at the back of his mind. He didn't pay it too much attention. Maybe he might want to travel with one or two others after he and riolu become a better team.

Up ahead was a downhill stretch, covered in ice and rocks. Without proper timing and coordination, one would probably have a lot of trouble getting down. At the bottom there is something though it is hard to make out from the hilltop.

This dice is not existing.

Edward slid down the hill, trying to keep his balance. His riolu however had a bit of a problem. It seemed to keep falling over. "You'll get it eventually Riolu." Ed reached the bottom to see an angry wild pokemon. "Oh gosh!" Ed sort of jumped as it appeared. His Riolu just finished coming down and quickly got into a fighting position. "Riolu, use quick attack!" The riolu obeyed, going towards the wild pokemon at a fast speed.

The Gulpin made a small noise, almost like a groan, as he watched the boy and his Riolu come down. He just opened his gaping mouth wide, ready to swallow up the Riolu whole. He sure liked a good meal, and rare Pokemon were always the most delicious. He had been waiting at the slope for hours and wasn't able to nab a meal, but the Gulpin's opened mouth was grinning, sure that this was his meal of the day.

Ed noticed that the gulpin was getting ready to eat his new pokemon. Thinking fast he said for riolu to jump over it and not get eaten alive. "Riolu, jumps over it!" It thought what Ed was thinking about, then he noticed the Gulpin's mouth was open. Riolu jumped over it and used a quick attack on it from behind.

The Gulpin looked up in surprise as the Riolu bounded over it. He turned around just in time to see the Riolu attack him. The Stomach Pokemon was knocked backwards, though the hungry green blob quickly recovered. The Gulpin went to attack the Riolu with a pound, but the Pokemon's low speed would make the attack easy to dodge.

Riolu easily dodged it and used another quick attack without Ed even saying to do that. He was going to say that anyways. 'Alright Riolu get ready for another attack!" The riolu however looked a bi tired after jumping over the Gulpin. "He might not be able to avoid the next attack."

The Gulpin was hit again. He flew backwards even farther than last time. Today was not his day, and the little green Stomach Pokemon was famished! He came back with a pound, catching his second wind, the Gulpin working at 110% now, which was kind of hard for something so small and weakened.

Riolu was hit hard. "Ouch that's gotta hurt..." Ed said aloud. "Didn't mean to say that out loud, or this." Riolu got back up. "All right Riolu, use another quick attack to try and finish it off." Ed was sort of hoping Riolu wouldn't actually finish it off. He didn't know why though.

The Gulpin was able to just barely dodge the Quick Attack with a roll, then came back in for another pound. Tired and hungry, he just wanted to finish the battle and pick on the next passerby.

The riolu was able to dodge it. It was almost as tired as the gulpin. "Okay Riolu I'll finish this!" Ed saw how tired the gulpin was. This was perfect. Ed reached into his bag and threw out a pokeball, hoping to catch the Gulpin.

Ed grabbed the pokeball containing the newly caught Gulpin. He
looked back up to see the next city wasn't far. First he's gonna stop by the forest of wonders though.

Rave sighed, Runa on his head as usual, as he walked along a newly found path. He hadn't been able to find a path that would lead him BACK to the first city. He wanted to go back and challenge the gym leader, but he wanted to train up Runa first. Runa yipped happily and leaped off, she ran over to boy in a Fedora along with a pursebag. She grew curious about the boy, who was Ed, and leaped onto his head and grabbed his hat. She ran back to her owner playfully, "Where did you get that from?" Rave asked her. She just wagged her tail happily in response, holding onto her prize pridefully.

"Woah what the?" Ed turned around to see his hat grabbed by a poochyena. He looked at the owner to see Rave. "Oh you again. I swear you have to be stalking me... Or I'm somehow stalking you without knowing it... Anyhow! I'd like my hat back please." Ed said getting ready to reach in his bag in case of emergency.

"Why would I stalk you?" Rave asked, he pulled the hat from Runa's teeth. She was stubborn to let go, but eventually gave up and reclaimed her spot on Rave's head. She stared at Ed intently as Rave apologized and held out the hat for Ed to take. Rave spoke, "She's a bit mischievous some times." he grew annoyed as drool fell in front of his face from Runa's mouth. Runa closed her mouth and barked happily.

"Yeah, I can see that." Ed took the hat and put it back on his head after wiping any drool from it. "So why are you here? I expected to you head back to Konoha and to the gym. Your pokemon are high enough levels." Ed looked at the path to Konoha, or was that to Candencia? Oh gosh...

"Runa, the poochyena that's drooling on my head, is a bit far behind. She would probably have some trouble in there, and I don't like having trouble." Rave said. He reached up and scratched his poochyena's ears a bit before removing her from hid head. He set her back on the ground despite her whiny protests. She pawed at his pant leg, trying to get his attention and return to her high throne that was Rave's head. She soon gave up and focused on the new person that stood before them. She sniffed around him and smelled Riolu and Gulpin on him. She barked and ran in circles, wanting to play. Rave scratched the back of his head, "Seems that she likes you."

"I'm not really sure if it's me she likes, maybe my two pokemon." Ed said reaching into his bag and pulling out two pokeballs. He threw them into the air to release Anubis and Gulpin. "She might have known these two were in my bag." The gulpin just sat there. It didn't seem to want to do much unless it had some food. Ed got some food for it from his bag and gave it to the pokemon. "I'll be broke if this keeps up. Well anyhow. You wouldn't know the way to Cadencia City. Like in the forest, I seem to have lost my way after I exited it."

"Join the club, we're lost too. The path keeps fading to nothing and seem to lead to nothing." Rave responded. Runa sniffed the air once more and stared at the other pokemon, curious about them, "Pooch!" (Hi!) she yipped. Rave noticed a rustling in the bushed, a trainer jumped out and saw Ed first. The boy cried, "YOU! We must battle, it's the secret rule of training to fight the first person you see!" the trainer sent out a starly and ordered proudly, "Send out your first pokemon!"

Rave was confused as the trainer challenged Ed, he looked to Runa who was just as confused as him. He moved out of the way to make room for Ed if he accepted the challenge, though it looked like the boy was giving him no choice.

"You're gonna force me to battle?" Ed asked with Joey nodding. "Okay then i guess... Anubis, let's go!" Anubis stepped forward and got into a fighting position. "So what's your first pokemon?"
