Nyx stopped in front of the mouth of the Cave. She'd heard that the Wayward Caves were a challenging place to train at, and seeing how it was close to the first gym, she decided to take the opportunity to train. She didn't want to be defeated easily by the gym, and after her humiliating defeat in her first trainer battle, her desire to win was stronger than ever.

Beside her, was surprisingly, a familiar Eevee. Aloysius had changed the deal so that he may be able to at least explore along with his trainer, but was still forbidden to participate in battles. After a painful punishment involving an impressively horrifying mix of herbs in his pokemon food, he had decided to lessen his rebellious tendencies. It wasn't good for his image, anyways.

The duo walked into the dark caves, Nyx having luckily packed a flashlight before she came to Feronia. If it was one thing she was thankful for, it was her mother's persistent nagging. They explored in silence, neither in the mood to speaking with each other after the previous incidents.

A pokemon dug through the tunnel ways and just happened to pop up in front of the trainer's flash light. The brown pokemon stared at the trainer, "Digglet?" it tilted it's head a bit. It seemed to grow a bit agitated though, the trainer had stepped on one of it's nicely made tunnels! "DIGGLET!" it yelled. It started up its arena trap ability, preventing escape.

A wild Diglett Appeared!

Nyx looked at the Diglett, debating on whether or not she should capture it. True, she did need a ground type. Ground types were useful. But Digletts weren't exactly something she found charming. But the training would be useful.

"Go! Oliver!"

And out came the Shroomish, feeling as chipper and active as ever. His trainer ordered him to use Stun Spore then Absorb, and the grass type immediately complied. He send a mist of paralyzing powder towards the Diglett, before sending forth a beam of absorbing light. Another day of training, as usual.

The digging pokemon dodged the attack of spores, but was hit with the absorb attack. It became angry and used mud slap as well as sand attack.

Oliver was able to dodge the Sand-Attack, but got the Mud Slap straight to the face. He gave a cry, having difficulty seeing due to the dirt. He wobbled around, attempting to navigate. He shook, focusing on the Diglett. He shot a few seeds at it, causing the seeds to explode into bright green vines that were going to suck its life out slowly, before using another beam of absorb to the ground type, just as his trainer instructed.

The diglett was hit with the leech seed but managed to dodge the absorb. The diglett used his combo once more, sand attack and mudslap. It seemed to be trying to get the shroomish to miss as much as possible, due to it being a grass type and he being a ground type. The diglett was smart in this move.

Oliver was hit with both attacks, now on the ground and busily shaking off sand. As much as he loved playing in dirt, all this sand was just getting ridiculous for him. With a determined puff of his chest, he ran up to the Diglett with an Absorb, following his trainer's orders. The bright red beam of light rushed toward the ground pokemon, threatening to drain even more health. The bright green vines gripped the ground pokemon, beginning to transfer a small amount of its health to its opponent.

The diglett was hit with the absorb, and began to grow weak. It used it's combo again, determined to stay awake as long as possible before going down. Neither it or the shroomish could run and escape because od the diglett's ability. It hated the ability but it had learned to deal with it. The diglett somehow tossed sand at the shroomish and moved in for a mud slap.

The Shroomish was miraculously able to dodge both attacks this time, now getting sick of the sand being thrown at its face. He was already feeling embarrassed that he was unable to finish the Diglett sooner with his grass attacks. Was his trainer going to think he wasn't strong enough to withstand some sand? Nope, he was not letting that happen! At least, not without knocking out this Diglett. With a loud cry, he shot a beam of Absorb at the ground pokemon, his aim just a bit off due to the sand he had accumulated in the previous round.

The diglett dodged it easily and used the same attacks once more. Throwing sand and mud at the shroomish. It didn't care if it was annoying or embarrassing the shroomish, it just wanted to win. It had been taught to win at all costs but to not cheat. The diglett repeated the process as much as it could.

Oliver got hit by both attacks again, now growing enraged. He rushed toward the Diglett, not feeling a hint of exhaustion thanks to the energy it was slowly draining from the pokemon. He ran until he was a mere few feet from the ground pokemon, before shooting another Absorb at its face.

Aloysius and Nyx watched from the sidelines. The Eevee was growing bored from the battle. He swore that if this would continue on any longer, he would begin whining for the trainer to just throw a pokeball or take out another pokemon to finish off the useless ground type. 'If I was battling, that pokemon would be as good as finished.' He brooded, ears flat on his head as he watched the battle.

The Diglett dove into the ground, avoiding the attack. It stayed underground for a bit before appearing behind the Shroomish and using another sand attack. Instead of using mud slap though, it began to scratch the shroomish. It somehow came close to shroomish and moved to scratch it.

Oliver dodged the sand-attack, but got hit by the Scratch. He screeched, feeling something sharp graze it. It took a leap backwards, luckily not too injured but was obviously irritated. It used Stun Spore and Absorb, follow his trainer's orders with more fury. This battle was supposed to be one-sided, and dragging it on had made the Shroomish feel less than confident about his skill now.

The pokemon was hit with both, and finally defeated. It screeched as it retreated into the ground and fled from battle. It disappeared into the tunnel's darkness and seemed to disappear forever. The tunnel was still it's cold and dark self with no winds and no light other than the glare of the trainer's flashlight. Something roared in the distance, what it was nobody knew.

Oliver gave a victorious cry, finally defeating the Diglett. He hopped over to his trainer, excitedly repeating his name as he relished the gratitude and pride his trainer showered him with at the victory. In his joy, he felt a hint of relief to see that his trainer wasn't disappointed in him for dragging the battle on for so long. After several pats on the head, the Shroomish allowed a bright red light to engulf him as he disappeared back inside his pokeball.

Nyx and Aloysius jumped when they heard a roar. The purple-haired trainer immediately stood up, grabbing the Eevee as they hurriedly continued deeper into the caves. She didn't want to know what made the roar, let alone end up having to battle it. She doubt her pokemon would be able to handle whatever creature had made such a terrifying roar. Her Eevee, on the other hand, seemed more irritated than afraid. Running away wasn't something he enjoyed for it made him feel weak and helpless. And currently, due to his rash actions, he was going to end up as the weakest of the team.

The roar ceased and was followed by dull booming noises. The noises ceased and the cave rumbled a bit causing some rubble to fall. A loud rumbling noise came from behind them, the cave behind them had collapsed! What would the trainer and her pokemon do now that they were trapped in the caves?

Nyx gasped, the area suddenly shaking as rocks began filling the caves behind her. She jumped, taking cover away from the hazard as the exit was slowly filled with rocks. Once everything calmed, the trainer looked toward the wreckage. They couldn't return to Konoha now. She frowned, thinking how she could escape. She didn't have any physically strong pokemon that could move the rocks out, but seeing how this was a cave, it was possible that she could capture one.

The trainer looked to her Eevee, whose initial surprise had vanished as he processed what had just happened. "Aloysius, we're going to have to capture a pokemon who can move those rocks. Mind lending a paw?" She asked. Aloysius nodded, though with less vigor as he turned around and guided the trainer through the dark caves. With only a flashlight and limited supplies, the girl hoped she and her pokemon would be able to survive until they found the right pokemon for their escape.

The caves showed no signs of life other than fungi that slightly glowed from cracks in the walls. The caves rumbled once more as the roar sounded once more followed by more dull pings that sounded close to bullets.

Nyx felt wary as they continued down the caves, unsure if it would be a good idea to proceed especially after the odd sounds being emitted around the area. She followed her Eevee closely, making sure to keep the flashlight aimed on the path in front of them as they continued searching the quiet area.

Aloysius sniffed around, detecting trace amounts of fungi and usual smells found in caves. There was a faint scent of another pokemon, but he couldn't seem to pinpoint the exact location. He led his trainer through the dark caves, concentrating as he searched for the pokemon they needed.

A drilbur had been digging at some rocks, it shoveled them aside as it waited for someone. When the other trainer had appeared, it squealed and ran away, returning to it's trainer. The trainer had been a pokemon collector. He looked down at his drilber and asked it what was wrong. The drilbur pointed to the oncoming Nyx and eevee. The collector's eyes laid on the eevee, a rare pokemon. His eyes widened as he made his way toward the trainer, he spoke, "That's a mighty fine looking eevee you have there! Mind if I offer a trade? My drilbur maybe?" he asked.

Nyx was about to send out Oliver to attack and capture the Drilbur, but was met with disappointment when she saw it already had a trainer. The trainer had numerous pokeballs and pokemon merchandise. Was he a collector? The girl had only seen a few collectors in Kanto, primarily those that visited with her siblings. She stopped, seeing the collector suddenly ask for a trade between his Drilbur and her Eevee.

"I'm sorry, but no. Your Drilbur isn't worth as much as my starter." She said without hesitation. Her Eevee's ears perked up at the sound of this, feeling a bit surprised that his trainer was still willing to put up with him after his violent tendencies. After how she had been treating him, he actually doubted she would keep him. He snickered, assuming that she kept him because of his rarity. Eevees were valuable, and Drilburs were far from that value.

[You're pure evil xD]

Nyx felt temptation build up as she watched the collector suddenly release more offers for her Eevee. They all looked so powerful and had so much potential... The trainer shook her head. No, she couldn't give up that easily. Aloysius was her starter, for Arceus' sake! What kind of trainer would she be if she gave up her own starter before she barely even knew him. Sure, he was violent and disobedient, but he was still her pokemon.

"I'm really sorry, but there's no way I will give up my Eevee." She said, face determined not to surrender her pokemon. Aloysius frowned, staring up at his trainer. What was she thinking? These pokemon were so much more powerful, so much more valuable... Did she really care? The Eevee's ears flattened on its head as it continue to watch the scene unfold.

Two more offers!" The man begged. He brought out two more pokeballs one was a masterball while the other was a regular pokeball, "Magikarp, one of the rarest pokemon in the region, i have two, AND my Drilbur! Eevee is the only pokemon I don't have in my collection!"

Nyx immediately agreed facepalmed when the man offered a Magikarp. Seriously? To her, rarity didn't matter. Even if there were only one Magikarp in the whole region, she wasn't going to go through the trouble of training such a terrible pokemon. Why was everyone so excited over such a lousy fish pokemon? She didn't know in the slightest.

"I said no. I am not giving up my Eevee." She repeated. Aloysius couldn't hold back his laughter when the man suddenly offered a Magikarp. Was he that much of a moron? An Eevee like himself was far too valuable, especially in comparison to a measly Magikarp. The brown pokemon laughed, tapping a paw on the ground as he did so.
