Taking Time to Have Fun

Cries of happiness and excitement came from Fiona the Ralts who was currently riding on the back of Hewie the Poochyena along the side of one of the many waterways in Cadencia City. "Wait up you guys! I swear you two became friends so quickly!" Their trainer Leslie, known as Cry, was not far behind, chasing them. The two stopped at an ice cream vendor, looking at Cry with pleading eyes. CUTENESS OVERLOAD *brain explodes* "Alright, we'll get ice cream." They cheer/yipped as Cry got three. Fiona held Hewie's for him as they licked.

A boy seemed to shrink away from the crowd. Feeling his stomach growl, he groaned. He hadn't eaten in a day or so. He tapped on his shoulder, on a rufflet's foot that stood on his shoulder. He felt the weight disappear from his shoulders, he hated stealing, but having no cash left him no choice. He continued making his way through the crowd, not even looking up at the Rufflet in the skies. He didn't want to look too obvious. He was glad to find an apple seemingly drop out of the sky and into his hand. His rufflet glided back down, breathing regularly as if it hadn't just flown half way across the town. Rave thanked the rufflet with a chin scratch and took a bite out of the apple. He saw a strange looking girl with a ralts and a poochyena, "Looks familiar..." he mumbled. He thought about it a bit before it clicked, "That's that magician girl that was on television in the background of a news story once.." He decided against putting her on blast to the crowd, thinking it would be rude.

Cry had noticed the Rufflet's little foraging journey and came to the conclusion that the owner was down on his luck money-wise. Also judging from the state of his attire to the effects he carried, this guy was an aspiring trainer. She also noted he knew how to act. Perhaps they could help each other? Cry went over and smirked to him. "Nice act there. No one noticed you get that apple. Of course, a skilled partner also helps." She winked to the Rufflet as Hewie sniffed at Rave. He detected a familiar scent from him.

Rave flinched when the person suddenly started talking to him, "Y-Yeah...Uh...Thanks?" He hated being awkward like this. It's exactly why nobody will employ him anywhere, that and his face is all over "Have you seen me?" pictures in other regions. He was surprised again as one of his pokeballs shook rapidly and a red beam burst from it. The red light took on the shape of a mightyena and broke off to reveal Runa, his mightyena. Runa snorted and growled a bit, looking left and right, Who's scaring Rave!? she seemed to demand.

"Hey, no need to be nervous. Just a compliment. We all hit low points in our lives." Hewie barked to Runa, running around and crouching playfully in front of her. Fiona turned away, a little jealous of the attention Hewie was giving. "Hey now Fiona, don't be rude. I'm Leslie by the way. This is Fiona and that is Hewie. Nice to meet you."

Runa looked down at Hewie, she made a confused whine as the pup jumped around playfully. She looked to Rave to find no answer from him, being too busy talking to the trainer to notice. She looked up at Rufflet, who was clinging onto Rave's shoulder while looking around at people and pokemon. She huffed, nobody was giving her attention other than the pup! She looked down at Hewie, What do you want? she asked.

"This is Runa...and the Rufflet is...well..Rufflet," he spoke, "I can't think of a name for him and he doesn't seem to mind being called that." He wondered what the magician wanted from him. Did she recognize his face on posters? Was she going to turn him in? He couldn't go back...his mother would be beyond angry and she would probably lock him in a cushion room that kept mentally ill people just so her precious son would never disappear again and be hurt. He knew that she would take away his pokemon, and probably give them to the first person who asks for them.

Hewie barked up at Runa, looking at jer expectantly. Play of course! I love making new friends! Hewie then went back to Fiona and used his head to push and lead her right to Runa. Fiona should play too! She is my bestest friend ever! I protect her azoth for pets and jerky. Fiona nervously looked away, a bit shy toward Runa.

Cry crossed her arms. "Well I have an offer if you need money. I'm touring Feronia and stopping in each town to perform a magic show. Now, I usually have to build my own props and effects to retain my secrets, but I could use an assistant who could help with that. Plus I have some tricks planned that I need an assistant to do."

Rave looked at her, debating a bit before saying, "Well, I have nothing better to do. I'll help...I guess. What do you need help with?" he asked. He was happy to help, he always is. His rufflet cawed and shifted it's feet, it looked at Cry and tilted his head a bit, "I guess he recognizes you from the TV" Rave explained. Rufflet cawed again happily.

Runa looked to Rave pleadingly, but found that he was still too occupied to help her with the pup. She sighed and smirked, getting a nasty idea, How about we play a game of hide and seek? You hide, and I go find you?

Not far off, in the shadows, a man watched the two dog pokemon interact. He had always wanted a dog of his own, maybe today he'll finally get one. He smirked as he made his way towards the bigger dog, the two pokemon being cut off from their trainers by the crowds.

Fiona saw the man who was creepily staring at Runa and Hewie, slowly approaching them. The ralts had an impish idea. When Runa sent the two off to hide, Fiona circled around and hid in the crowd. Just as he physically grabbed Runa, Fiona let loose a blast of Confusion straight to his face. The theif got vertigo and stood, head swimming dizzily. Cry and Rave were tooo into job details and info to notice all this.

Runa growled and turned around, giving the man a good bite in the hand for good measure. The man cried out and glared at the ralts, he snorted and fled. He'd be back. He was still infatuated with the big dog, it was big and ferocious. He had to have it.

Runa huffed and gave a snort, she looked around for her trainer, Rave. She sniffed about, trying to find his scent. Where did they go?

Rave hadn't moved from where he stood, "So...you want me...to do what? Wouldn't that kill you?" he asked. This had probably been the third time he had the girl explain it. He couldn't quite understand just how the trick worked without her dying a horrible painful death.

(Just a warning that you did a little god modding there)

"No no, see the makeup is actually flame retardant for an average of ten minutes and the restrains actually protect my body from burns for five. I'd be out of them and the box before I'd get hurt. I quadruple check everything. Its the smoke we gotta worry about which can be taken care of this way." Cry was pointing out the specifics of a trick that would chain her up and lock her in a box which she'd disappear from and leave the chains behind only to appear in the audience.

Fiona ran over to Runa and crossed her arms. "That guy was bad, but I got him for ya... but where is Cry? I think we lost her... and Hewie. Where is my Hewie? Can you help me find him?"

Crap I have to help the runt don't I? Runa thought with a sigh, "Mighteh..." Fiiiine. Runa huffed and searched about, a frown plastered on her face and an ear tilted to the side in annoyance. She hated being away from Gabriel. She gave another huff and began with her brilliant plan, walking in a random direction. She didn't watch for the ralts, she wasn't as caring for others as that rufflet.

"Really? Huh, never heard of that before." Rave spoke.

Fiona was a bit frightened without Hewie. She was very attached to the happy little guy. To try to calm her nerves, She lightly held onto Runa's fur as she led the way. She hoped to find Hewie soon. She felt safer with him. BY GOD ALL SHE CAN DO IS A LAME KICK IF TROUBLE SHOWS UP! CAUSE EVERYONE WANTS HER AZ...OTH! "I hope we find him soon. I don't like to be separated from him for too long..."

Runa didn't like how the ralts clung onto her fur, but dealt with it. Runa had no idea where she was going. People stopped to make way for her, since she was a mightyena, which were considered mean pokemon thanks to Teams like magma and aqua. She snorted and continued forward, her nose on the search and her ears swiveling back and forth in search of a familiar voice.

They were separated, perfect. Now was the thief's chance to grab the mightyena.

Fiona did her best by trying to pick up Hewie's unique feelings. But with so many people and pokemon with so many different emotions and Fiona still being young, the ralts only got a headache. Fiona was worried and anxious. Hewie and her were partners. She felt safe around him. M-maybe you could get my scent? Hewie and I spend a lot of time together so he must smell a little like me...

Runa wasn't even looking for the pup, but sniffed the ralts anyways. The pup might be with it's master and with it's master would be her's. She sniffed the ralts's head and followed the trail for a bit, it wasn't long before something happened.

She was led into a rather dark ally, being a dark pokemon she felt more at home here. She walked into it and yelped as she was grabbed around the stomach and hoisted up. She growled and snarled and flailed about, trying to rid herself of her attacker.

The man smirked in victory, he had finally gotten the mightyena. He was much stronger than her, so it was easy to hold her in place.

Fiona yelped in surprise when the man grabbed Runa. In her frazzled state, she wildly fired a blast of Confusion that hit Runa instead. Luckily Psychic attacks could never hurt dark types. Fiona cried out. HEWIE, HELP US!

Out of nowhere there was a howl. Behind the man was Hewie himself. With a growl, he ran forward. I'll stop him Fiona! Don't you worry! Hewie jumped forward to sink his teeth into the man's butt.

The attack was successful. The man screamed, and dropped Runa. Runa landed hard on her side but managed to scramble up and get a good lock on his leg with a bite as he tried to strangle the pup. The man cried out once more and dropped the pup. Runa continued to latch onto his leg, furious at how the man had grabbed her. She shook her head furiously before letting go, his cries were attracting attention, they needed to get out of there. She debated leaving the two for the blame but instead knelt down and said, "Raayyeer." Hop on.

Fiona looked to Hewie, but the canine pokemon nudged her to Runa. You get on Runa. I know Cry's scent. I can pick up her trail. Besides, I can fight better on the ground. Fiona pouted, but got on Runa. Hewie put his nose to the ground and began sniffing out Cry's scent. He expected Runa to follow him.

"RAYR!" YOU TAKE TOO LONG DAMMIT! Runa shouted, the man had been hobbling after them even with the growing crowd. With his injury the crowd was putting the pieces together and she could smell fear coming off of them, they thought she was feral! She ran forward, expecting the ralts to hold onto her fur. The mightyena dashed forward and picked up the poochyena by the scruff. She weaved through people who didn't move with ease and finally stopped when they were a good distance away. She set the pokemon down and sat down, panting.

"Wait...where's Runa?" Rave said, looking around. His rufflet searched too, straining his neck to see above the crowd. Rave called her name a few times, each time growing a bit panicky. Runa had ran them all the way to the other side of the city.

Cry looked around and gritted her teeth. "Oh no, I assumed the three were playing... I'm sure they are fine. Hewie is tough and Fiona is smart. I'm sure they are just waiting for us to find them. We have to keep our heads cool and search calmly. Rufflet, you circle around the city and look for them." Cry tossed a cellphone to Rave and attatched a gps clip to Rufflet's ankle. "My phone is the only number in there. Rufflet, hitting the button will tell us where you are, hit it it you find them. I'll check the north half of the city. Meet at the central fountain in a hour."

Hewie was mad. You ran AWAY from the scent! Now I can't smell her!

Rave nodded. His Rufflet moved to his arm and he helped the hawk pokemon into the air with a launch. The rufflet had trouble due to no winds but managed to get high into the air and began gliding around in search of the trio.

Runa huffed, The crowd was about to go ballistic, then her scent would've been drowned. Can't you smell fear yet pup? she snorted and walked out into the streets. Her plan was to just wander around until she found Rave's familiar scent. Knowing him, he would be calmly walking around and quietly, but would really be tearing himself up inside. Her thoughts were spot on.

Hewie huffed as Fiona ran over to Hewie. We shouldn't argue. Cry and your trainer will be looking for us... Wait! There was a flying pokemon with you, right Runa? They'll definitely have him look from the air! Let's go to a roof so he can see us better. Hewie nodded in agreement and turned straight towards the nearest building. Let's go then!

Runa snorted, she wasn't about to be saved by a rufflet. She could find her own way! She went in the completely opposite direction with another huff. People continued to move out of the way for her, she didn't growl at them. A little kid wanted to pet her but her parent gave her a stern no. She growled in annoyance and continued forward, more of a stomp in her step.

Rave meanwhile was calmly walking about, but was freaking out on the inside.

Hewie and Fiona turned and immediately followed Runa, trying to tell her to stop being so stubborn. Apparently Runa wasn't even listening to them. So Hewie decided to get the overly proud Mightyena's attention. STOP BEING SO STUPID AND STUBBORN! Hewie bit Run's tail, hanging on. IGNORE DAT SUCKA
