~Battling Rules and Guidelines~

Battling is one of the main parts of Pokemon and thus a large part of this site. Here are the rules of battle.

~Moves and Abilities~
A Pokemon is not limited to 4 moves. If it knows a move, it will not forget it, but it must learn the move naturally first. Pokemon will learn moves like they would in the games. If a move is learned at level 26, then the Pokemon would learn the move at level 26. TM or tutor moves would have to be taught to a Pokemon, ect. There is no PP, but moves that have less usually have less PP will wear the user out more that a move like tackle.

Abilities are a bit different: Every Pokemon has both its abilities, but dream world abilities are only available to Dream Star Pokemon, Pokemon who spend a certain time in the Dream World. Abilities are completely optional, but used correctly they could turn the tides of a battle.

~Move Combinations~
Every turn (one post in a battle) your Pokemon can use any moves each. Still, only one can be used to damage your oppenent. Moves that take two turns in-game are an exception. Using them will limit you to only be able to use that move for a turn. Moves that require a turn cooldown (like Hyper Beam) limit that turn to one attack, and one attack on the next turn. Items and switching take up a whole turn.

Coordinators are an exception. In contests, you can use 4 moves per turn, but you can only hit a Pokemon with one attack.

Priority Moves don't go first or last as there is no real priority system. Instaed, the Pokemon gains a speed boost for attacks with high-prioity and waits to be attacked for low-priority moves and then attack. Low priority moves don't count as an attack, and the turn you use it you can still use two other attacks.

~Battle Rules~
In a battle, you may only dodge attacks twice in a row before taking a hit, and you should be reasonal about it. If staff find you dodging too much, they may PM you to take more hits. Attacks that always hit will, in fact, always hit and cannot be dodged, only negated by another attack. Negating an attack also counts as dodging.

Base stats are your friends and guidelines. If you know which base stats are the highest and lowest for a Pokemon, you can enhance a roleplay battle. A Zoroark will be fast but won't take many hits, and a Darmanitan that isn't in Zen Mode probably won't pull off a good Flamethrower attack.

Finally, the most important rule is that you cannot say if an sttack hits. Your opponent gets to decide that. They get to dodge or be hit, and then they may attack you and you do the same thing. No "Pikachu used Thunderbolt, the lightning striking Bulbasaur", but instead "Pikachu used Thunderbolt, attempting to strike Bulbasaur."

~Leveling Up~
In the forums, you need one COMPLETE page in order for a Pokemon to level up. It must be the Pokemon you were fighting with, so no fighting with Pikachu all the time and then deciding to use Bulbasaur to level up. If we see you do something like this, we may delete your post and PM you about it. Leveling up can be done in-character or in between threads. So levels can be calculated correctly, please put the level of which you obtained your Pokemon.

Roleplaying her is impossible without a character. There are some things you must keep in mind, though.

~Characters must be 100% Human~
Thats right, no Gijinkas/Pokemorphs, no ghosts, demons, superhumans, vampires, ect. Characters must be a normal human. Don't worry, though. There may be a chance in the near future! There is an exception of Psychic characters, though!

~No Special Symbols in Character Names~
This rule also goes for nicknamed Pokemon. Your character may not have an accent (ň,é, ect.) or a symbol in another language (Japanese, Chinese, ect. ) in their name.

~Only One New Character per Month~
Although unlimited characters are both free and allowed, you may only make one new character per month. This is to keep people from making characters that they quickly scrap or making too many.

~Mary Sue/Gary Stu Characters will be Shot Down on Sight~
That's right; as in possibly every roleplaying site you've ever been on, we will NOT take perfect, flawless characters, PERIOD. They need to have at least something wrong with them, if not more. No one is perfect!

In-Character Rules and Guidelines Empty Pokemon Rules

Pokemon have special rules and guidelines on how to roleplay as them.

~Pokemon may have Unlimited Moves~
Thats right; you are not limited to 4 moves on a Pokemon. Still, the Pokemon has to learn the move first, so a level 5 Pokemon won't know a move it would learn at level 53. They can only use two moves per turn at most, though. Check the battle rules for more information.

~You may only have 6 Pokemon on you at a time
Only six, like the games. If you were to have a rotation team, please put whcih Pokemon your character is using at the beginning of every thread.

~Leveling up is controlled by page count~
Every page you RP in a topic equals one level for the Pokemon of your choice. Please keep track of this in your character records so you can easily keep track of leveling and so the mods can see if you are managing your levels correctly.

~Capturing Legendaries is not allowed~
Because of their huge powers and importance to keeping the Pokemon world in order, you may not catch a legendary Pokemon. It is a rare chance you would encounter one anyway, and if you did it would probably beat your Pokemon badly. Also you may not have contact with legendary pokemon in your character's history. You may catch a glimpse or a sign of one but never direct contact.

~Humans cannot understand Pokespeak~
When a Pokemon talks, a normal human won't be able to understand what it is saying. Other Pokemon can understand Pokemon, and legendary and psychic Pokemon can sometimes use telepathy to communicate with humans.

In-Character Rules and Guidelines Empty Extra Rules

~To successfully complete a route thread, the topic must be at least three pages.~
This is so people actually have to roleplay a good bit. Along with this, there much be at least two encounters of any kind. Only when those two conditions are met may the route be successfully traveled and the characters can go onto the next town. Still, they can be as long as you like.

~You may only have up to five open threads per character!~
Even though Feronia uses liquid time, to ensure characters cannot gain levels too fast or members starting topics they may never finish, each character can only be in five threads at once. Still, make sure you know your roleplaying limits and don't make/join too many threads for you to handle.

~Elite Four, Contest Halls, and Gym Leaders can only be re-challenged once per week each.~
Just so people don't keep rematching over and over again every day, when you lose a contest or to a member of the Feronia League, you must wait one week before you can start a rematch thread.
