The Boy and the Lapras

Post by Bluekat12 on Thu Apr 18, 2013 12:00 am

Harvey stumbled into the Astro Lake Area. It was growing dark, and the sunset painted the sky red, he wondered why the sun set red. He had asked a teacher that once, and he gave him a long complicated explanation that he couldn't understand. He had remembered a video game trailer commercial saying one time that it was because red traveled the farthest. (I SWEAR IF YOU GET THIS REFERENCE...) He took out the pokeball that contained his new pokemon, Lapras. He walked over to the lake's edge and tossed it into the calm waters. The pokeball returned to him empty, had nothing come out? He began to worry a bit until a giant blue from shot up from the depths of the lake. It hummed a tune and twirled a bit, showing off a bit as well. It was the Lapras. Harvey had been startled by the sudden explosion of water and landed on his behind.
The pokemon hummed once more and looked at the defenseless boy before her. He was small, and his hair was an odd color along with his eyes. Was this a pokemon that only looked like a human? She reached to the boy with her long neck and gave him a sniff, yep. Smelled human alright. She made a slight reassuring humming noise again, and swam in a wide circle. She was trying to display that she meant no harm, not wanting to be feared. The boy continued to sit on the ground though, staring at her and making her feel kind of awkward, "Laaa?" What?
Harvey couldn't believe it, his own lapras! He looked at it with wonder as it swam around and seemed to stare back. He finally snapped out of his trance and spoke, "Uh-Hi! I-I'm Harvey, your new trainer." The lapras stared at him with curiosity which encouraged him to talk more, "You're eyes are a lot like crystals I used to see on the Family's tv...mind if I call you crystal?" he asked, tripping on his words every now and then, but the lapras nodded. He became ecstatic, This was the first time he had ever gotten something he wanted! The Family had always told him it was a sin to be selfish, but being selfish every now and then couldn't hurt, right?
(Nocive's called dibs on modding this xD)

A figure began to emerge to the surface of the lake. A spiked, buoyant body revealed itself. The wild Qwilfish looked around, its piercing eyes seething with rage. Something had agitated it, and now it was looking for a way to release its anger. It soon spotted a trainer with a Lapras, and began rushing towards them with dangerous speed. NO ONE dares to mess with its territory!

A wild Qwilfish appeared!

(Wait...I have 670 posts?? I MISSED MY 666 POST!?)
Harvey watched as one of the shapes in the lake moved, coming towards them. He recognized the pokemon as a quilfish just barely, he wondered why it was so agitated, had he done something? Did he let out Crystal on top of it's nest or something? As he began to panic over the thought of his first battle, his lapras seemed calm. He decided to take her example, taking a deep breath and focusing on what to do. He could lull it to sleep with Crystal's lyrical tunes, or he could growl. He decided to try and put it to sleep first, "Sing, then w-water gun...uh...please?" he asked.

Crystal chuckled slightly and did as told. She hummed heavenly at the pokemon, a tune similar to rock-a-bye-baby but a little more jumpy. She felt some water gurgle up her throat as she used Water Gun, shooting a jet blast at the pokemon. Water Gun was her only attacking move. Crystal hummed to herself, as if trying to calm herself. Bad memories were returning. She used to be in a pod, she had a child, a family, everything.Everything changed when the fire nation attacked She had lost it all because of a war between two beasts, a pod of wailords and sharpedos had waged war against each other, and caught her family in the middle of it. She snapped her attention back to the battle, she couldn't let herself be distracted at a time like this!

The Qwilfish ignored the lullaby, far too distracted by its rage. It was hit by the gush of water, sending it a small distance back. It gave a cry, now more enraged by the attack before rushing towards the Lapras. Its spikes seemed to glow with purple energy as it tried to stab the larger pokemon for a Poison Sting.

A distance away from the battle, a figure smirked. The faint sound of a pen jotting down notes could be heard as the stranger continued to watch the scene from afar, making sure to observe the Qwilfish and the trainer.

Re: The Boy and the Lapras

The lapras avoided the stings with a duck of her head, the needles flew past her and nearly hit Harvey. Harvey yelped in fear as the poison needles hit the ground just a few inches from his hand. He could see the poison dripping off of it and swallowed, "S-Sing! Then another Water gun!" he ordered, he inched away from the needles as he did so. He didn't want to accidentally prick himself on them and poison himself. He looked back to his lapras as she hummed another mother like tune and shot yet another blast of water from her throat. Harvey wondered where she got the water, did it form in her body? Was it water she drank? Harvey loved the wonders of pokemon.

Crystal hummed a tune once more and shot a blast of water, she was fueled with a bit of rage at the quilfish for bringing back memories of her family and friends being killed. Her blast of water tickled her mouth as it rocketed toward the quilfish.

The Qwilfish seemed to have gotten frustrated by how it missed, but was soon silenced as it began to give in to the lullaby. It floated on the water peacefully, only to be sent back as the water gun hit it. The fish didn't react, still asleep due to the Sing. It floated on the water with ease thanks to its naturally round exterior. It was surprising to see it so peaceful, especially after its earlier reaction.

The hidden figure frowned, grumbling something to itself as it continued to jot down notes. It seemed displeased with the turn of events, almost as if its plan had just gotten a set back due to the Qwilfish's slumber. Taking out a small phone, it spoke with hushed tones. There was only a quick reply, but the figure continued to speak any ways. It brought up an arm, checking a small watch. The voice on the other end seemed agitated by the news, raising its voice. The figure rolled their eyes, replying to the other voice with mild frustration. Their connection stopped as the figure put the phone away, ignoring the other's protests. It continued to observe the trainer and the pokemon, patiently waiting for the battle to end.

Re: The Boy and the Lapras

Post by Bluekat12 on Thu Apr 18, 2013 5:46 pm

Harvey sighed in relief, he picked himself up and grabbed Crystal's pokeball, "Ok, let's go before it wakes up!" he suggested. He was horrified to see that his lapras was in a frenzy, she continued attacking the pokemon despite his protests. In his own frenzy, of panic though, he wondered why the Lapras was acting such a way. Weren't they supposed to be peaceful pokemon that hated fighting?

Crystal would have none of this running away business. Her hums turned to screeches as she blasted another water gun at the quilfish. She loathed the pokemon, bringing back horrible memories of being torn at and battered around by sharpedos and wailords. She growled at the quilfish and continued her enraged assault, in hopes to make it sink in defeat.

The fish pokemon awoke from its slumber, no longer able to hold onto the dream world with the rush of attacks. It gave a war cry, before releasing several small spikes onto the water. The dangerous barbs floated on the lake, threatening to hurt anything that dared to touch it. The Qwilfish then sent another frenzy of Poison Sting towards the Lapras, enraged at how the larger pokemon had attacked it in its sleep.

The stranger chuckled, seeing the poison fish awaken and attack. Its phone rung wildly in its pocket, but was paid no mind as the owner continued to observe. It took a glance at its watch, a grin appearing on its face as it turned its attention back to the battle. It seemed to be waiting for something, almost too eagerly.

Harvey was helpless as his Lapras was attacked, and in turn attacked some more. He watched was his Lapras was stung by the attack, but luckily not poisoned for she had rid herself of the barbs quickly. She began humming a tune once more, avoiding the spikes in the waves easily thanks to the calm waters. She sang and launched yet another water gun from her mouth. The water twisted in her throat and sped toward the Quilfish.

Re: The Boy and the Lapras

The Qwilfish was not affected by the Lapras' singing, giving a cry as it began rushing towards the bigger pokemon with the intent of attacking again. It was cut off as another water gun was sent towards it. The spiked fish screeched as it was critically hit, sending it flying back. The battle came to a stop as the pokemon collided with one of the rocks that littered the edge of the lake, causing it to be incapable of continuing the battle. With its injured form, it shot the water pokemon one last glare before plummeting back to the depths in defeat.

And as the battle ended, the stranger's watch gave a click!, as if a timer had just ended. The hidden figure snickered to themselves, taking out their cellphone again. To no surprise, the rush of demanding calls had ended, and was replaced with a single message: I'll be there soon.

Re: The Boy and the Lapras

Post by Bluekat12 on Fri Apr 19, 2013 6:00 pm

The lapras huffed as the foe retreated, claiming her victory. She turned to her trainer expecting a bit of praise or maybe even scolding for disobeying, whatever it was she didn't really care since she had gotten what she wanted. She reached her neck out to him, to find that he had inched away from her. Shocked, Crystal swam backwards a bit, using her flippers to propel herself. She couldn't understand, was the boy afraid of her ferocious and merciless display? She began to hum again, a more soothing hum.

Harvey was terrified, Crystal's rage had been much similar to The Family's Mother's rage. It had always terrified him, he knew Crystal was his friend, but he couldn't help it. Crystal began to hum, showing that her fit was over. Harvey smiled nervously and asked, "I guess you have a huge problem with things randomly attacking us...I-I guess we're going to have to get used to it though, wild pokemon aren't usually nice." He stood up and walked over to the lapras, who seemed to grow a bit happier and hummed a more happier tune. Harvey surveyed the surface of the lake, thinking he saw something in the distance.

[TIME TO GET COOKIN']
As the boy looked toward the lake, another shadow began to emerge from the depths. A small, green, lilypad began making its way to the edge of the lake. It seemed slow as it moved, and it didn't seem to be going in a straight line. Reaching shore, a small Lotad popped out, making its way out of the water. It seemed weak, moving unsteadily on the ground as it tried to get away from the lake. "Lo... lotad... lo... < Please... help... please... >" It managed to utter, before giving up and falling onto the ground, no longer able to stay on its weakened feet.

A wild Lotad appeared!

Harvey noticed the small lotad, he wondered what was wrong with it. He looked to Crystal who gave a shrug somehow with her flippers. Harvey walked over to the lotad cautiously, "Hey little buddy, what's wrong?" he asked it. He knelt down to it, not picking it up thinking that he might scare it that way. He knew that he couldn't understand what the pokemon was saying, but he could at least try to help! Harv wished he had potions, that way he could heal the green lillypad pokemon.

Crystal watched the lillypad float up and beg for help, she allowed her owner to do the questioning for her. She liked Harvey for trying to help the small pokemon, it made her hum a bit smoother.

The Lotad was about to reply, but was interruption as it began to gag. It spat out an odd, purple-ish fluid mixed with water. It gave a small whimper, feeling its energy being slowly drained away by an illness. Its blue body seemed to be draining color, along with its lilypad. The lilypad on its back seemed to become less healthy, turning slightly brown. It mustered up the energy to talk. "Lo.. Lotad lo... Lot lotad tad lo... < Many Qwilfish... Came out of nowhere... Began ruining the nesting grounds and poisoning everyone in the lake... >"

Harv couldn't understand what the lotad was saying, but Crystal could. Harvey could tell by the look on Crystal's face that is wasn't good. He spoke to her, "Is there anything we can do?" he asked Crystal. Crystal seemed to be a bit hesitant, but turned around and motioned for Harvey to jump on her back. He looked to the lotad, who wasn't in great shape, "Do you think you could lead us there? We'll help any way we can!"

Re: The Boy and the Lapras

The Lotad attempted to stand up, wanting to accompany the human and his lapras. But unfortunately, it couldn't muster the energy to stay on its feet, falling almost instantly back onto the ground. It groaned in pain, sputtering out more purple fluid. "Lo.. Lotad... Lotad lo... <They're at the... The center of the lake...>" It managed, before falling completely unconscious. Its lilypad withered as the poison continued to spread through its small body, slowly draining away its life.

From afar, the same stranger stood, watching intently. It wasn't alone this time, as another person was right beside it. They seemed to be silently arguing, with the new watcher being much more impatient and angry than the other, who remained as passive and silent as usual. They watched the trainer and his lapras, waiting for the right time to strike.

"Okay, uh...you stay here and uh...try to rest. We'll go help your friends!" Harvey thought that their nesting grounds floated, so he would have no trouble. He and Lapras sailed into the lake, once they were at the center, Harvey wondered where the nest was. He began to panic when Crystal began to submerge, "Crystal, you're kinda for-" he was forced under water as he clung to the lapras's neck. He wanted to help the pokemon, so he didn't let go. They dove down...down...down...to see if they would find anything.

Re: The Boy and the Lapras

Post by Nocive on Sun Apr 21, 2013 4:33 am

And under the lake, they were greeted by a large amount of underwater plantlife, rich and ready for inhabitants. But surprisingly, there wasn't a single water pokemon in sight. There were nests, but they did not hold any eggs. Everything was wiped empty, as if it was abandoned. The underwater world of the lake was completely silent. But sad to say, the peace did not last, as a blinding flash of light engulfed the area, followed by a strong surge of paralyzing electricity.

From behind the Lapras and her trainer came a large group of Lanturn. They moved swifty, carrying what seemed to be a large net in their mouths. They didn't seem to have control over their movements as they brought the net over the Lapras and her trainer, while emitting electricity from their orbs. They began to move up the surface, swimming away from the shore where the trainer and his lapras had originally stayed. As they drew closer to the other end of the lake, a single man stood on the shore, looking very much irritated. He seemed to be wearing a lab coat.

Harvey found himself and Lapras be quickly enveloped by a electric net. He screamed in pain as the net sent electric shocks coursing through him. His scream caused air to escape his lungs, he watched the bubbles of stream upwards as he fought to keep what little breath he had. He felt Crystal thrash about in the water, being injured by the net. Harvey took out his pokeball and tried to return Crystal, sparing her from this pain. To his surprise, she refused. She thrashed about, against the net in attempt to set them free somehow and maybe cut the rope with her horn despite the electric currents.

The Lanturn increased the power of their electricity as the Lapras continued to struggle. They continued lugging the net to the shore, stopping at the edge of the lake. They swam to the bottom of the Lapras, pushing with all their might until the large pokemon and the trainer were sent out of the water and onto land. On the area they were about to land on, there was a single contraption that released a large cage, big enough to cater for the large Lapras and her trainer. The cage would be state-of-the-art, brought from Unova and made for the capture and transportation of strong pokemon.

The man in a lab coat stood, waiting. Behind him was a surprising amount of cages and tanks, all carrying various pokemon. In his hand was a phone, which he occasionally checked, only to snarl at the messages that he received. "Damn pest..." He muttered, before pinching the bridge of his nose in frustration. He looked over, seeing his Lanturn bringing in a rare pokemon. A lapras, along with someone who may be its trainer. He watched them carefully, before deciding to speak. "You know, kid. The Lake is off limits. Didn't you see the sign at the entrance?"

Crystal glared at the man, so HE was the one who harmed Harvey! Crystal screeched and threw herself against the bars, still full of energy. She gave up on hitting them when she nearly smashed herself against her semi-unconscious trainer. She gave the man another glare before rearing her head back and blasting water at him. She was concerned for her trainer that still lay on her back, probably half drowned.

The man sighed, moving out of the water's way with ease. He looked at the Lapras and her near-unconscious trainer, looking a bit stressed. "Children nowadays." He got his cellphone, rapidly pushing the keys to make a quick message. Once done, he turned back to the water pokemon. He stood there for a quick while, before turning around and heading for one of the tanks. After a few minutes, the man came back, holding a single egg. The egg was a bit larger than normal, and was primarily colored blue.

"Kid, I know you're awake. You may be coughing up water right now, but I'm sure you can hear me. See this? It's a Lapras egg. Extremely rare, and we found only one in this whole lake. Lapras are very rare, and having one raised by a parent will ensure it's growth. But the thing is... this is the last one we have in this lake. How about you give us your Lapras to help raise it? or..." He snapped his fingers, causing his Lanturn to surface from the lake again. Their orbs buzzed with prepared electricity, ready to zap the Lapras and her trainer the moment the man asked. "...We could have you both killed off right now. Sorry, but seeing how there are less than a hundred native Lapras to Feronia now, we can't go easy on the consequences if they disappear."

Lapras growled and turned so Harvey was facing away from the man. She growled at him and seemed to be telling him off in pokemon even though she knew he couldn't understand her, "Lap, LAPRAS!" So, EF OFF she blasted another column of water at the man, point blank. She put everything she had into this shot and hopped he got hurt. No way she was leaving her trainer! The boy was practically helpless without her, also if they wanted the egg to hatch so badly with a lapras parent they would've just given Harvey the egg.

Harvey was to busy chucking and heaving water over the side of Crystal to do anything. His eye sight was worse than usual because of the sickness he had with the water. He was surprised he was still alive without cpr.

One of the Lanturn reacted, sending a jet of water to break off the Lapras' attack. The man watched as the two attacks collided, moving out of harm's way. He pinched the bridge of his nose, giving a sigh. It always had to be the hard way, huh? He looked over to his Lanturn, giving a nod. Immediately, the pokemon send a wave of electricity towards the Lapras, combining their strength to punish the pokemon.

As they attacked, the man's cellphone gave a beep! He took it out, checking the message. His eyes widened in disbelief, before contorting into a look of complete anger. 'Do what!? This guy's gone nuts!' He thought, before putting the gadget away. He looked back up at the two, thinking of what to do.

The lapras screeched as it was shocked, the shocked spread to Harvey through touch and caused him to pass out, no getting an answer from him now. Crystal was weak now, but she wasn't about to give up. She abandoned her tactic of attacking and just glared at the man, trying to implement a seed of guilt into him. Since she couldn't win physically, she was going to try and win psychologically. Her eyes glittered as she stared at him, seeming to ask, "Why?"
